Tonight's Homework: Mr. Turner's Class-SOAR Interview and Context Clues Worksheet (front and back)
Mrs. Zimmerman's Class-Context Clues Worksheet and Read 20+ minutes-Come ready to share your first status! :)
What's Happening in Room 824?
This week we will learn how: historians determine if information is true, readers use context clues to determine the meaning of unknown words, scholars have respectful conversations, readers analyze pictures and texts to infer meaning. We will also write about our summers and then take our Unit 1 Test (Thursday) to be used as pretest that will help identify areas of focus throughout the next couple weeks. This test will not be graded; it is solely used for planning purposes.
Thanks for such a great first day of school! I think that this is going to be the best year ever! We will be finishing up our daily procedures discussions and will start getting into some independent reading tomorrow. We will then be ready to start social studies and ELA content instruction next Monday. Both classes beat me at Me/You today so the SOAR Interview sheet (that was originally assigned for homework) will be done in class tomorrow instead of tonight for homework. :) Please don't forget to complete and return the two "Parent Homework" forms (demographic form and technology form) as soon as possible. Have a great night! I can't wait for tomorrow! ~ Mrs. Z :)
Hi everyone! Welcome to the start of a new school year! I am looking forward to getting to know all of you. We are going to have a very busy and productive year filled with exciting learning activities and school events. The fifth grade students will achieve much this year in terms of academic growth, greater self-confidence, and improved social skills. My goal is to create an atmosphere of open communication regarding your child’s progress and behavior. Therefore, if you have any questions or concerns throughout the school year, please feel free to contact me via email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or note in your child’s planner.
While I will be sending home a detailed Back to School Packet on the First Day of School, I wanted to share some important details with you before we get started on Thursday!
