Next week we will wrap up our first lesson in Social Studies as well as our first skill in reading. That means we will have some quizzes/tests coming up. These are to assess what we have covered/practiced in class while introducing quiz/test expectations. Therefore, students will have opportunities to review the material in class before their Social Studies quizzes. (I really think that most could do well on the test if they took it today.) They will also have time to review on Wednesday for their reading test.
*Below are the social studies notes that students should look at over the weekend.
The first part of the test will assess lesson 1 vocab. Students will match the word to its definition.
migrate-to travel from one living place to another
hunter-gatherer-people who travel to find food from plant and animal sources
irrigation-system to bring water to dry areas
civilization-cultures with complex ways of life
culture-set of beliefs; way of life for a group
agriculture-to grow crops for food
The second part is matching and the third is a (very) short answer question. Students should study the following chart for the multiple choice/short answer section. (HINT: Pay close attention to the Inuits.)
